Haire Construction was contracted out by the Kentucky School for the Blind to remove their old, dilapidated playground and install a new one. Haire worked with Rosstarrant Architects to create a new, fun, tactile playground and surface that the students can enjoy for years to come. The individual playground units all had components that would allow students who were visually impaired to still enjoy the activities and learn how to navigate different structures. The play surface was composed of rubber that was poured in place after the equipment was installed. To finish off the project a 10’ high black chain link fence was installed around the perimeter of the playground along with new sidewalks and curbing. This was a wonderful opportunity for Haire and seeing the joy this playground brings to the students was the highlight of the project.
